Register(ed): Critical Hope Course with Dominican University School of Information Studies (January 2025)

Next month at Dominican University’s School of Information Studies,  I’ll be teaching an asynchronous special topics course (LIS 805) on critical hope in library work. The 8-week intensive course, titled Critical Hope and Self-Preservation in Contemporary Librarianship, will explore the challenges of 21st-century librarianship and the role of critical hope in cultivating leadership, centering well-being, and expanding perceptions of library advocacy. Students are invited to consider and reimagine humane library futures based on consistent praxis, self-preservation, and collective care.

Currently, this course is open to currently enrolled Dominican University School of Information Studies students, and I’d love to know if you’d be interested in taking this course if it were available to LIS practitioners. Let me know in the comments or send me your vote!

  1. Sounds a like a much needed and extremely important course! I would be very interested in this sort of forum for discussing with students and new and experienced practitioners alike! CO$T may be an issue but the timing seems fairly appropriate.

I would really consider this class as a part of my personal enrichment. When hope is present, things have a way of working out because all parties are trying to push for understanding, a reasonable solution, and growth. I’d be very interested.
