Report: The Reset Experience: mid-winter 2026 (February 2026)

Renewals hosted the second session of The Reset Experience on February 4, 2026. This second session attracted over 200 registrants, and during the two-hour event (technical difficulties nonwithstanding!) attendees heard from invited speakers as we delved into a focused exploration of recovery from workplace harm, burnout, and associated experiences. The Reset Experience also offered attendees dedicated time to practice the tools of Self-Preservation through thoughtful activities created by speakers.  Registered attendees also received a Recap that included selected recordings and other resources so they can continue their refining practices and reflections.

The Reset Experience: mid-winter 2026 Speakers, top to bottom – Kaetrena Davis Kendrick, Barbara Alvarez, and Sarah Wallace.

Here are some key takeaways shared by Reset Experience attendees.

Share a concept or perspective that you learned (or that was clarified) during The Reset Experience:

Understanding that workplace abuse or negligence can be stacked, that layering can happen. It was helpful to hear that not writing things down is negligence. It’s not uncommon in my experience for bosses to not write accomplishments in my files. Learning that changing your behavior is a mark of low morale experience.”

So much! Grounding in values to help navigate toxic systems; reflecting on self abandonment and my tendency to fawn; having a plan for communicating including ways to regulate and respond; ways to restore connection in my body and the concept of titration; thinking about ways to apply this to my work with my team and in my division.

“Differences in communication styles, the sympathetic/parasympathetic responses to stress and trauma.

The writing reflection…was helpful to reflect on my values in my life, beyond work. It was also a good reminder to review policies at work to see how they may or may not align.

Share a strategy that was covered during The Reset Experience that you will try or expand:

Meditation- the meditation was really great and gave me some good ideas of how I could actually put it into practice. It has been one of the things that I have wanted to do but struggled with so that walk through it gave me some ideas to try at home and work.”

The way to handle a difficult situation is going into practice, and being shared, immediately!”

The importance of pausing before responding, and the use of silence as an intentional response.”

“Discernment.”

“…To keep my values at the forefront.”

Share how The Reset Experience may influence your efforts – even incrementally – in recovering from workplace harm:

“I’m starting to realize that my actions don’t always influence the outcome. I need to put more energy into boundaries. Also, I’m not alone. Also, I love having vocabulary for these things – low-morale, workplace neglect and negligence, energy vampires, legacy toxicity, discernment. Naming the thing really helps!

It’s helpful for me to name the low-morale experience. It empowers me to be able to point to these resources to colleagues going through burnout.

Seeing that trauma chart was incredibly helpful in using to understand how it works AND feels. The talk about communication … let me take a look at my own styles and identify where I am and how I can then either adapt or see those styles in others so that I can better work with them. It really crystalized the harm that a lack of communication creates, which I hadn’t really thought of. I really liked how we could take some actual time to really digest and work through workplace harm during the experience, so I really felt like I left a little bit healed and was better equipped for healing.”

“The framework Sarah cited is a helpful tool to remember how to reconnect, especially in moments where we feel disconnected from ourselves and others.”

I see that my use of voice has increased since I did the last Reset. Connecting to my values has helped with an anticipatory leadership change on my campus.

Approaches and resources from The Reset Experience complement tools I’ve used to recover. An amazing community and thanks!”

Being in community with people who have shared similar experiences of trauma, burnout, and recovery makes me feel less isolated and more moored in reality.

[The Reset Experience] will help me recognize some the patterns that trigger me, determine if they are actual issues, and respond in a way that preserves my self, my dignity, and the dignity of my work.”

Please share any other thoughtful feedback about The Reset Experience:

This was such a thoughtfully created and strategic session. I am deeply grateful to have attended! It is so validating to have a community of people that have also been through such terrible experiences..This was a much-needed experience! THANK YOU! I am eternally grateful!”

“I really enjoyed this. I felt validated and refreshed after this experience. Thank you.”

“Thank you for the recognition that self care goes deep.”

I can’t say enough about how restorative this was. I had so many ah-ha moments and I’m feeling really moved by the care, thoughtfulness, and practical tactics introduced through this experience. I’m excited to share these practices with my team and I have already identified areas where I can immediately practice communication and somatic in my work AND daily life.

Thank you very much to all of the speakers for sharing your expertise.”

These two hours were such a powerful experience while still fitting into my workday and I appreciate that as someone who does not have the resources (paid time off, professional development funding) to do this outside of work hours.”

Validating, encouraging, beautiful space.

“Can these be on a regular basis???”
